Login and registration problems

I’ve received a new password, but it’s not working??: Please ensure that you’ve activated your new password, by clicking on the link that was in the same email as your new password. If you’re not able to click on it within your email, just copy the link to your internet browser and press enter.; Top

I’ve forgot/lost my password!: Don’t panic! However, even the forums manager doesn’t know your password, so no point asking them for it! You can very easily reset your password for another temporary one and then change it later to another more memorable one, in your members control panel. Just click once on the link in bold below, then enter your member name and email address, click submit, then check your email for the temporary password, and use that to login.

I’ve registered already, but I’m unable to login?: First, ensure that you are inputting your member name and password correctly. If you are definitely sure that you are inputting these correctly and that your capitals key lock is off, email to the forums manager - Jeff@TorreviejaForums.com If you haven’t been banned, you will always receive a reply to your email. If you don't receive a reply, it will usually mean that you've been banned for going against the simple agreement on here, for example, posting a website address that has a link to another forum, message board, weather forecast or social networking website (or for ignoring emails from the forums manager). If that’s the case, then just register again with another member name and another email address, but this time, take more notice of the agreement page - everyone else does!!; Top

Why do I get logged off automatically?: If you do not tick the Log me in automatically box when you login, the forums will only keep you logged in for a preset time. It’s usually best to keep logged in, so tick the box during login. The only time it’s not recommended, is if you access the forums from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, etc.; Top

I registered quite a while ago but cannot login any more?!: Locate the email sent to you when you first registered, check your member name and password in that email, then try again, remembering to make sure that your capitals lock key is not on. Also, we periodically remove members who have not posted for a long time to reduce the size of the database. If this has happened to you, try registering again with a different member name & email address and then being more involved in discussions.; Top

Can I change my member name?: Nope! If you would prefer to have another member name, you will need to register again with a new member name and new email address.; Top

How do I get a picture above my member name, so that it shows in posts like other members here have?: The image that usually goes above a members name, so that it can be seen every time a member makes a post, is known as an avatar. Your avatar is generally unique or personal to you. Your avatar can be easily added or changed by going into your members control panel, just follow the simple steps detailed on the link below:

alternatively, you can choose to use an image that isn’t already on the forums, for example, an image that is on your computer, or elsewhere on the internet, but, please make sure your avatar doesn’t contain any flashing or animated images, and is not rude or likely to offend in any way. Posting

How do I post a topic in a forum?: To post a new topic in a forum, click the relevant button on either the forum or topic screens. You need to be a member and logged-in first before you can post a message.; Top

How do I edit or delete a post?: You can only edit or delete your own posts and it’s only possible within a certain time after the post was made. If you’re not able to edit or delete the post, it means that the time allowed to do this has expired. (No point emailing the forums team about this!!); Top

How do I bump a post?: Firstly, you must leave at least seven days in between bumping posts in the same thread. To bump a post, just enter a new post in the thread, with the word 'bump' in it. More details on the link below:

How do I add a signature to my post?: To add a signature to a post you must first create one via your Members Control Panel. It is usually best to add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio button in your profile. To add a signature to your posts, just go to the link in bold below:

How can I report posts to a forums admin/forums manager?: There’s a button for reporting posts within every post. Clicking this will walk you through the steps necessary to report the post. Please remember, that the forums team will usually see your report much more quickly, if you email to them.; Top

Formatting and topic types

What are smilies?: Smilies, also called emoticons, are small images which can be used to express a feeling. Please use an appropriate smilie if you feel that there could be a slight chance that some, or all of your post could be misinterpreted. Can I post images?: Yes, images can be shown in your posts. Full instructions are in these forums, linked to from the main menu on the left here.; Top

What are locked topics?: Locked topics are topics where members can no longer reply. Topics may be locked for many reasons and were set this way by either the forum moderator or forums manager.; Top

Member levels

What are Forum Managers?: Forum Managers control all facets of forums operation, website coding, including setting permissions, banning members, creating moderators, etc. They also have full moderator capabilities in all forums.; Top

What are Forums Admin?: Forums Admin look after the forums on a daily basis. They have the authority to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in these Torrevieja forums. They will also help to ensure that no members post anything abusive to another member or any offensive material. They are all unpaid volunteers working hard to ensure that all sections of these forums run as smoothly as possible for all of you, so please give them as much help and support as possible.; Top

Searching the forums

How can I search a forum or forums?: Enter a search term in the search box located on the index, forum or topic pages. Advanced search can be accessed by clicking the ’Advance Search’ link which is available on all pages on the forum.; Top
